The Beginning

SOLA exists because the formula we wanted didn't exist anywhere. So we built it. Three years in leading cosmetic science laboratories, working with scientists, testing on skin, refusing to compromise — until the result was undeniable.

The question that
started everything.

Nils is a physician and geneticist. His scientific background gave him a perspective on skin, sun, and formulation that goes far beyond what most suncare brands ever bring to the table.

And he was deeply frustrated by what the category accepted. Chemical UV filters with unknown systemic absorption. Formulas built on margin, not science. Beautiful packaging, mediocre formulas, extraordinary prices.

If anyone was qualified to build a genuinely better suncare formula — it was him.

Three years inside
the laboratory.

The formula development took years. Not because it was easy to make a suncare product — but because we were unwilling to compromise on anything.

No oxybenzone. No octinoxate. We wanted clean, effective sun protection that science could stand behind — and we were willing to take the time to get there.

The formulas were developed to meet the highest European cosmetic standards. Clean formulation principles guided every decision from the first iteration to the last.

Nils begins investigating the gap in luxury suncare formulation. Deep study of EU cosmetic regulations and clinical testing requirements. The question is simple: why doesn't a formula like this exist?

Formula Development
Years of active formulation work in leading cosmetic science laboratories. Multiple iterations. Each version tested, refined, and held to a higher standard than the last.
Phase 03
Testing & Compliance
Formulas developed to meet EU Cosmetics Regulation No. 1223/2009. Clean formulation standards applied at every stage. GMP manufacturing requirements established.
Phase 04
EU Regulatory Compliance
EU Cosmetics Regulation compliance confirmed. CPNP registration pathway established. GMP manufacturing standards verified. The formula is ready.
